Submissions for the fourth annual awards open at 9am PST, Wednesday October 6, 2016. The online submission form closes on 11:59pm PST, Monday November 28, 2016, with a grace period of two weeks to get the perfume to us in the mail.

Updated rules, and instructions will be posted online very soon, but read on to learn a bit more about the what, where, how of the next iteration of the awards.

> We will accept submissions that first hit the public market between January 1 and December 31, 2016

In our submission form, we will ask about the date and the manner in which the perfume went to market in 2016. Please be prepared to have documentation of the launch date, event or activity.  Note that we do not accept reformulations of existing perfumes relaunched in the same form (e.g. liquid) under the same name. Even if the formula or dilution percentage has changed, as long as it has the same name and is being released by the same company or perfumer, we will not consider this a new 2016 launch.

> We will accept up to three perfumes per fragrance brand, per category

Each fragrance brand is allowed up to and no more than three submissions per category. In the experimental category, each artist is allowed to submit up to three projects for consideration.

> We will accept submissions in three categories:

• INDEPENDENT AWARD: For perfume brands that employ an external perfumer or fragrance house to initiate and create their blends, which are then released under the brand's name. Read the qualifiers here.
• ARTISAN AWARD: For perfume houses that are owned or co-owned by the brand's primary perfumer, who initiates and creates the blends in-house, then released under the brand's name. Read the qualifiers here.
• SADAKICHI AWARD FOR EXPERIMENTAL WORK WITH SCENT: For experimental practitioners who make unconventional or non-traditional use of scent that takes it out of the domain of traditional perfumery. Read the qualifiers here.
