ABOUT
MISSION: Awarded to just five perfumers a year, The Art and Olfaction Award is a highly competitive and highly selective award, designed to raise interest and awareness for active independent, artisan and experimental perfumers from all countries. Our hope is that by shining a spotlight on perfumery’s most outstanding creators, we - in turn – will help generate support for independent perfumery, as a whole.
GENESIS: The Art and Olfaction Awards were founded in 2013. We hosted our inaugural award ceremony in April 2014 at the Goethe Institut in Los Angeles, where we honored excellence in two categories: Artisan and Independent. In 2015 we added the experimental category, The Sadakichi Award for Experimental Scent. The awards operate as a program of The Institute for Art and Olfaction, a 501(c)3 non-profit based in Los Angeles, CA.
SUBMISSIONS DEADLINE: Submissions open each year in October through December, and are open to independent, artisan or experimental perfume projects that first hit public market between January 01 and December 31 of the same year.
