Chi Wai Tang (PhD)

Chi Wai TANG (PhD.) has worked as a cell and molecular biologist since 1993.

Parallel to his career in biomedical research, Chi Wai used to work as an expert consultant for Fragrance Moment, a Chinese magazine dedicated to fragrances and scents. He has written numerous reviews on fragrances and skin care products in various media since 2004. Through his work, Chi Wai has developed close contact with many perfumeries and perfumers. He not only conducted many perfume salons and fragrance workshops for the general public and fragrance enthusiasts, also invited as a guest lecturer for many perfume houses.

With experience in the field on luxury and exclusive fragrances for over 20 years, he was invited by the organizing committee of Esxence to give a public lecture at the annual event for artisan perfume in Milan, Italy in both 2014 and 2016. They invited him again to give a lecture on Luxury Fragrance Market in China –the Challenge and Opportunity in the 10th Edition (2018). His research interest is always focused on fragrance trends and markets in the Far East.

Chi Wai is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and English. He has conducted fragrance training for Dior, Guerlain, Penhaligon’s, Rance1795, Shilla Singapore and numerous fragrance brands in Asia. He wrote fragrance reviews in Chinese for luxury brands, eg. Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Chanel etc.

He also provides market insight and works as moderator for focus group for world leading fragrances and flavors firms. In addition, he also works as a fragrance evaluator, provide fragrance direction and new product development for a number of international brands. Finally, he provides consultation on setting up exclusive perfume boutique and assortment selection for individual companies.
