John Biebel
John Biebel is an artist, perfumer, writer, musician, and product designer. He is a graduate of the Cooper Union (New York City) where he received his BFA in painting and photography. He has lived in New York, London (UK), Boston and now resides outside Providence, Rhode Island (US) and maintains his painting and perfume studio about 15 minutes north in Pawtucket, housed in a 19th Century converted textile mill.
John's work in painting has been exhibited at Choate-Rosemary Hall (CT), The Painting Center (NYC), Walden Pond State Reservation (MA), and the Biennale exhibit at the Athens Stock Exchange (Greece). He has been an active writer for Fragrantica since 2012, and has presented workshops and scent-related exhibits for the Currier Museum of Art (NH), the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum (MA), and the University of Hawaii. His perfumer endeavor, January Scent Project, has been featured in New York Magazine, The New York Times, and American Craft Council Magazine. He has combined scent and sound explorations with the recording of an album under the name January Sound Project, available on most streaming platforms.
